and more

In all my work I honor the old, for there is nothing new.  Secret locks are made from old copper rummaged from scrap yards. Hinges are collected from everywhere. Some of the hardware, window sash locks and hinges, date from my grandfather and father’s lumber and mill company in Cedar Rapids Iowa that went out of business in the 60s. Most of the wood in what you see here on the site is from a few trees I have milled over the years from the land of friends or my own. I honor old by letting age ripen the wood, patina the metals, distress the look. The older, the more interesting, the more valuable, the wiser, the longer the story gets.
